In the 21st century and with an Accessibility Law that is more than 20 years old, the social exclusion of people with reduced mobility is still a glaring reality, largely caused by the lack of accessibility in our country.

In order to fight this reality and contribute to a more accessible country and a more inclusive society, Associação Salvador created the project “+Acesso para Todos – Por comunidades mais inclusivas”, with the support of Portugal Inovação Social.

This project, which kicked off on February 17, 2022, with the first public presentation in the Municipality of Torres Vedras, had a territorial coverage, being present in 15 municipalities in the North (Porto, Amarante, Maia, Gondomar, Guimarães), Center (Leiria, Torres Vedras, Batalha, Tomar) and Alentejo (Santarém, Rio Maior, Grândola, Ourique, Almodôvar, Castro Verde).

Among the various activities carried out, the organization of training and awareness actions in schools and the promotion of “Ponha-se no nosso lugar” actions with local Mayors, Councilors, Technicians and Companies stood out.

The initiative was aimed at people with reduced mobility, but also at Municipalities, commercial establishments and companies, and the younger sections of society, who will be the decision makers of the future, with the purpose of raising awareness and educating society on the issues of inclusion and accessibility.

The Project “+Acesso para Todos – Por Comunidades Mais Inclusivas” (POISE-03-4639-FSE-001050/52/54) is supported by Portugal Inovação Social, through European Union (EU) Funds, namely POISE – Operational Program for Social Inclusion and Employment under the Portugal 2020 funded by the EU through the ESF – European Social Fund.
